what is this steering noise i'm experiencing?

I brought my car to the freeway this afternoon and while running 60mph, I gave my steering a very quick jerk to the left and then right. I did it in a very abrupt manner because I want to test if there's any difference after installing the NM engineering sway bars.

When I did this maneuver, I heard some sound that seems to come from the front. It sounded like something rubbing against something. "grrgrrgrrrgrr". Once the steering is straight, the sound is gone. At low speeds even at full turn I don't hear this. Any idea what this is?

I has installed NM eng SS brake lines. Do you guys think the lines are rubbing against something or is this sound related to the steering system?

Try a high speed steady turn (freeway exit ramp) to see if you get the noise.

The abrupt steering shift you initiated could cause a number of interference type noises, You need to eliminate some possibilities.

I suspect the sway bar bushings or mounts are grumbling. Everything torqued down properly?

NM Engineering is fairly new to the MINI scene. Anyone else have any comments on quality/performance?

hi lhoboy, NO sound when when it's a high speed steady turn whatever is causing the noise, it's triggered by the very abrupt steering inputs.

how do i eliminate some possibilities? any tips?

Is the grumbling still there? I'm thinking the swaybar mounting bushings were grumbling and might get seated after awhile.
