sunroof adjustment?
#2
Unless you can obtain detailed instructions on the proper removal, realignment, and reinstall of your sunroof panels, and any adjustments to the sunroof cassette, I'd leave this one up to MINI.
Also, if the car's under warranty and you mess it up, MINI may deny any claim you file.

It is quite simple to adjust the sunroof glass, but if it is under warranty let the dealer do it until its not anymore.
You do not have to take the glass out to adjust, just loosen the t25 screws and then you can adjust the glass any which way you perfer up,down, back, and foward. And after you will have to re-intialize the sunroof.

Can the glass be easily removed (and reinstalled). The reason being that I wanted to add some tinting film. Having somebody else do it will cost me $75. Doing it myself, from underneath is not my preferred method. I was thinking if the glass can be removed (easily) then applying the tint film would be a piece-o-cake. Thots?

Which T-25 bolts?
Can you give me some description of the nolts/screws that I need to loosen in order to adjust my sunroof? The back end of my back glass is about 10 mm low and the back end om the front class is about 4 mm too low.
Thanks,
Greg

You have to open the sunroof just a little. At the point where it has finished rising, but hasn't moved back more than an inch or so.
Now, you will find some (metric) capscrews (allen-wrench type) on the metal frame holding the sunroof. There are 3 on each side - only visible from the inside.
The capscrews hold two metal bars against each other. The holes that the screws go through are oversized to allow adjustment. You should take some really good closup pictures of the position of the bars relative to each other BEFORE you start, so you know the exact position of everything.
The procedure is hard to do, because you can only gauge clearances when the sunroof is closed, but you can adjust it only when it is open. Also, if you get the sunroof adjusted too 'low' you might break something (I don't know if it has a torque or motor current limiter or not).
It is best if you have a friend to help. If you loosen the screws, the sunroof will fall to the "lowest" position, and it will be hard to raise it to just the right spot while tightening the screws.
I had to adjust mine to as far foward as it would go (I first thought that I might have to Dremel out the holes to give me more adjustment), and as far "down" as it would go in the front.
It all works perfectly now.
