Oil
Well.
If every oil comapany on the shelfs of the store had there own rigs and oil refinery's there would be a lot more holes in the earth, Wyoming has alot! i have never seen a redline or a pentosin rig here
I had several oil company guys tell me same thing, They all buy there base oil from the same few suppliers, and mix in there own additives,
I had read that REDLINE and AMSOIL are a few that start with a Pure Synthitc Military Aviation grade base
I have reseached this quit a bit, I have a 2002 Ducati that wants a Special Shell oil thats only sold in Europe, And the Ducati dealer uses Redline, So do i import oil, or find one that has the same or better specs,
I will have to look more into the pentosin,
Like the super charger oil
I work at a GM dealer, so i have lots of it, And I have see a ton of burned up superchargers on the Pontiac 3.8's and even in the owners manual it states it should be changed at 10.000 miles, I knew this before i owned a cooper, so i wanted a better oil in mine,
Just google the CASE # of the 2 oils in the supercharger oil, You might be suprised
Only really big beinfit i have is if i need any oil i just ask my oil reps, they get me anything i need, we have red line and royal purple on the selfs all the time, only thing ive bought in 3 years is filters

Well, Dang it i learned something,
Just because you should, isn't a good reason for me, I wanted to find out why i had to run pentosin, Found out it is some special stuff
In short:
A fluid with a High Viscosity Index will NOT change Viscosity with temperature,
Were a fluid with a low viscosity index WILL change viscosity with temperature,
I found that Pentosin CHF 11 has a Index of 313
And that even the expensive higher cost fluids were only 142 and 121. cheaper brands less than 80
Amsoil Viscosity Index is rated at 204
Redline Viscosity Index is rated at 143
I can see where a more temperature stable would offer a more consistance steering feel,
Here are some links
