I took delivery of my car last week and have started the break in process. At the dealer they went through the car from bumper to bumper. Then they gave me the keys and said "Have Fun". I then asked my salesperson what about the break in period. They said " Take it easy for the first 500 miles and keep it under 4k RPM". Then have fun. I asked "What about the 1200 miles I've read and heard about"? They then called the mechanic and he told me that it was just a way to get people use to the cars feel. To make them drive slower and get use to the feel of the car. That there really is'nt a so called "Break in period". That is a thing of the past. Well what do you all think?

From the perspective of the limited warranty, I would stick to the break in guidelines listed in the owner's manual. Better be safe than sorry, besides 1,200 niles is not really that much and it will pay off big time years down the road when patience and care were excercised during those first weeks/months of service.

Patience pays off....just follow your owner's manual guidelines and then drive it as you wish past 1,250 miles!
