Won't start

Yesterday I drove to work and back as usual. When I went to start the Cowkiller to drive to Charleston for our daughter's graduation, it would only make a solenoid clicking sound. (2007 Mini Cooper manual). We've never had any problems. I can't find an answer in the manual. We tried to jump start. We used external battery pack, and a 225 amp starter/ charger. Nothing. We really can't tell how to remove the battery to check/test it. My husband does the mechanical stuff but I think it's electrical. HELP. We live 140 miles from the dealership!! Thanks to any one who can help or who has ideas about it. Thank you. Beth

It does sound like a bad battery. Consumer grade battery starters are really not that good. I have had a couple experiences where they wouldn't jump worth a hoot.

A good old fashioned car to car jump or a mechanics battery pack will help narrow it down.

Also, if the battery cables are loose, even a good charger may not work. Make sure you can't spin the cable at all and then try to find someone with cables to give a proper jump if the things you used are $40 home electronic "tools"

The charger may need to be left on for 15 mins or so to charge the battery. 226 amps isn't really great (you battery has more when it is charged). Again make sure the wires are not loose.

That whole black plastic panel over the battery has to come off to replace the battery, not that hard really, a couple of fasteners and that whole half panel will come off.
