Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
It's no secret that due to the high amount of plastic used to keep our MINIS nice and light, we end up with lots of squeaks and creaks, especially in the cold. Has anyone found any way to help reduce these. A product for plastic? Non-run flats? Thoughts?
The only problem i have had with this is after taking the door panels off to replace the speakers. Other than that NO squeeks or creeks.
Your MINI dealer should have for sale in the parts department Felt Tape in black that is used between panels and what they attach to reduce the noises you are having. Unfortunately I have not seen it or been able to get it from any auto parts stores.
My dealers solution was to use plenty of felt tape when I brought my MINI in for rattles. It helped a lot, but there are just too many rattles to catch. Drive faster and you won't even notice them!
My dealer took care of the only rattle I've heard so far in my young R55, which was coming from the left door speaker area. I would bring it in and show them the rattles; if they're cool they'll try to fix them.
It seems to be hit-or-miss as far as if you get a MINI that rattles or not.
mini is always making noise. i really think mini interior quality is awful. it's funny because parts of the interior are so nice but all in all it's bad. that would be one of my main suggestions to mini. improve the interior quality. less cheap plastic. more insulation to keep it quiet.
