Hatch open light will not go out

I recently had my alternator repaired on my 03 Mini S. Since the repair the light indicator showing that there is a door open will not go out even though all the doors, boot and bonnet are securely closed. I am waiting for my mechanic to figure out what is wrong but since I haven't gotten an answer from them I thought I would try here. Maybe I can find out what they obviously haven't been able to. Thank you for any feedback!

Open the bonnet and check the electrical connectors behind the latches. Sometimes they don't get put back on. At least mine wasn't 'til I figured out what they forgot to do.

Thanks for your reply. I took your advice and checked under the bonnet and found that a wire behind the indicator was sticking out and had been crimped when the bonnet was closed. It was still connected but just enough of a thickness to interfere with the sensor I guess. I replaced the wire back out of the way of the bonnet and the light went off. Interestingly, in the meantime my mechanic called me and said they would have to take apart the front end to find the problem. I think they were a little embarrassed when I told them I had fixed it so simply. I have been using this mechanic for @ 16 yrs. but I'm beginning to wonder if I should go to a mini cooper service center. The problem is that they are so expensive and so far away. The closest one is about 45 min. drive. Any body know a good Mini mechanic in the Orlando area?
