How to remove or adjust the spring that holds up the trunk/boot lid?
My dealer hasn't had much luck remedying the rattle from my boot. But this morning I think I may have figured it out. The "gas pressurized spring" on the driver side of the rear doesn't seem firmly in place. It is loose and rattles when I grab it, at both the end that is connected to the car and the end that is connected to the lid. In comparison, the one on the passenger side is 100% tight.
So my question is, how do I remove and/or adjust it so that it's tight? It seems like it might just pop off but I want to make sure I pop it off the right way (so that it can be re-installed) and not the wrong way (so that it has to be replaced).
Thanks!

There is a clip on each end that you have to pry out with a screwdriver. Looks like 'C' shape. When the clip is released then the end can be pulled away from the 'ball' mount.
Be sure the hatch is supported before messing with it.
Here is an example with photos:

Normally these are not adjustable. You just have to replace it.
Make sure the mount brackets are secure on each end as well.

Thanks! That was a great help.
I was just playing around and popped out that little clip a bit, then re-inserted it... and it fixed it! The spring is no longer loose. It's solid.
Now I'll just wait and see if the noise returns. (it usually only does it for 10-15 in the minutes in the morning and then disappears for the day)
