Fan running continuously

My 2006 Mini Cooper Convertible's engine fan runs continuously. I can only stop it by disconnecting the battery. I recently had battery issues which have been resolved but I wonder if it caused a programming error in the computer or the fan failed. Any ideas ? Thank you.

twice when the fan controller failed on my 02S this was the result...the fan defaulted to on always and ran down the battery.

I too disconnected the battery until I could get the fan assembly fixed - alas the controller was not avail as a sep part at that time (dunno about now) -

I searched for a fuse or a relay I could pull and even discussed with the service dept the second time around and they too said battery disconnect or you can disconnect the fan unit at the plug on the pass side of the fan assmbly

Thank you for your reply. Your input is very useful. I'm off to the dealership tomorrow morning.
