A friend of mine has and 07' Audi A4 and her sunroof wouldn't stay shut. Audi wanted $2000 to fix it. So don't feel to victimized, It's not just Mini, it's dealer prices.

I just give the back of the front glass an encouraging push as I push the toggle to open it. Works all the time. Only a problem on hot days.

Seems to have all been fixed on my LCI model - doesn't rattle as much either.

This, along with the added weight, the rattles, squeaks and leaks is why I chose to save $1,000 and not order the sunroof. Don't miss it at all.

I had this problem right after i got my (used) mini (~42k miles). i took it to the dealer and they replaced it in a day. luckily all the parts were available, eh?? in the end, its been replaced twice and now it works just fine. *knock on wood* hope it doesn't happen this summer cause i'm out of warranty now :(

I read somewhere on NAM that the grease they use also binds with dust and the heat to make a sticky glue like substance. I am getting an estimate from the dealership about this sometime soon. Sadly My 07 is out of warranty :[

Sannav: the repair should be under warranty for a while though?

Conrad: please let us know how you get on.

Went to dealership today for auxillary pump recall and to get an estimate on the sunroof fix it would be $185... $185 just to figure out what is wrong and to get an estimate because they would have to take down the headliner and all that mumbo jumbo... And to top that off they did something to my sunroof and now I have a check sunroof light that goes off and it makes this really horrible clicking sound now instead of just a normal sunroof sound :[....

Thanks for the update. Not good, is it?!

And now the sunroof on my 2011 S is starting to make a clack as it opens - I'll be reporting that pronto so that if there are any issues later it was reported while under warranty!
