inertia switch/impact switch ???

Does anyone know if this/these exist on a 02 S (May build) and where?
MY MINI won't start , it's definitely 'cause of no fuel flow and it does'nt make sense, car ran great for 300miles, I cleaned it up came back a month later and no start 'cause of no fuel. I'm thinking maybe I tripped the inertia/impact switch when I was wipeing around the MINI which I do thoroughly, under the bonnet, in the boot, door jambs, everywhere. I even got into the little trap door compartments in the boot where the tool kit is.

I'm sure someone with better knowledge that be will chime in, but I don't believe the MINI's employ an inertia switch per se. The approach as I understand in the Mini is that the is conection in the harness that is designed to break apart when the airbags deploy. Effect is the same as an inertia switch but a bit more dramatic and less resetable

Pre 09/2002 production MINIs had an Inertia Sensor that included a fuel pump shut-off. I believe it is located in the engine compartment and looks like this:

We had a rally MINI years ago that triggered this during a race...

yep thats it, but just rubbing around wont set that off. I hit a construction lip in the road one night, broke one of my rims and dented the other 3, That set my inertia switch off.

Here's the part number: 07 13 1 068 856. It's in the electrical section of http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ or http://www.penskeparts.com/index.aspx. Unfortunately, the diagram is very basic and does not indicate where the part is located on your MINI.

On the 02-03 it was located about 8 inches away from the brake master cylinder. Looks just like the pic that Kent posted. In 04 they made the fuel cutoff part of the airbag module.

Thanks everyone! I found that switch days ago and that's not the issue.

I think the issue is going to be about an $800 profit for the sevice/repair depaertment!
