noise on start-up

my r53 is making some strange noise on start up and it's really baffling me

it's this squeaking noise.. almost like pulley noise but it only happens for like 5 seconds after i start up the car and then it goes away.

i thought it was the pulley tensioner but it's not. it comes from the rear and underneath the car. It's like someone is slowly turning a squeaky pulley.

i can't figure out what's causing it since there is no moving part around the rear..

anybody?

Are you SURE it sounds like it is coming from the REAR of the car??????

The sound you are describing sounds exactly like mine had (and several other posts). About 5 seconds after startup (only with the A/C turned on). Found that it is the Power Steering Pump fan.

You need a ramp or lift to see it but its simple. Shoot some spray lube and it stops immediately. You could find it basically midpoint between your front tires but more toward front of car. Small black fan.

EVERY repair guy on the planet will be jumping to change out your tensioner and idler pulley......... They love doing those.
