lock button on my key fob caved in

i combed through ebay and came across an original OEM blank key which will need to be programmed by the dealer and a replacement for just the key fob with nothing inside with a blank key. my key works fine but its obviously a hassle to lock the doors through the keyhole. can i just get the key fob replacement only and transfer everything from my original key fob into that?

I think you can, just try to pry it open with a small flat head screwdriver.

I had one key like that and it turned out the switch below the button had fallen off. I got lucky and crazy glued the switch back in place and now it works again. I was going to solder it but I will wait until it stops working.

I have no idea if this is repeatable, but what the heck, give it a shot.
