Alignment necessary after replacing transmission?

Long story short, my "local" dealer replaced the 5-speed (under extended warranty!) in my '05 MC about six weeks ago. I immediately noticed that the steering wheel was out of alignment by about 5 degrees (as I always noticed it being very dead-on), but they said that this was unrelated. So...$95 later, my mechanic says that the dealer would have had to drop the lower rack to replace the trany and should have re-aligned, but the dealer still stands by his original statement. Thoughts? Should I get a couple of gas cards out of this?

As for why the trany was replaced, stay tuned...it's another big question...

Thanks all!
