100K Maintenance

100K Maintenance
So Baxter my '05 MCc is inching closer and closer to 100K (96k to be exact) and I was wondering what things I should have done to help prolong happy motoring. I did have some recent repairs done:
At the gas station I was informed that my powersteering fan was frozen and that I need it repaired asap so as not to blow out the pump and drive repair costs up. Apparently it was the culprit behind my PDC fuse constantly blowing.
Also in between the dealer and the gas station trip I felt like my A/C wasn't as cold so I went to have it recharged and I was informed that it didn't need recharging but that a bunch of leaves were clogged up in something.
Anyway after all this rambling the point is I just wanna be informed and proactive. I relied on the dealer to inform me and I feel like they let me down because they missed all those other issues.
So any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. It was at the dealer for over week and when I got it back the windshield was cracked...They replaced it but then I noticed that they cracked the black plastic that runs along the drivers side of the windshield (I'm positive they did it and not some rock) I usually get really awesome service at the dealer but this last trip really disappointed me.
***I updated my post to reflect how much I paid for these repairs....I rarely see people post how much something cost them or they do the work themselves. I don't do the work myself and I'm always curious as to the approx cost of the repair.
- new spark plugs ($200) local shop
- power steering fan replaced ($265) local shop
- bushings replaced ($860ish...an alignment was done, the $860 includes an alignment which cost $160 I was told that was necessary when the bushings are replaced) dealer
- O2 sensors (last summer...got a letter from MINI that covered the cost but I had already paid $100 for an SES check and failed emissions) dealer
- seafoam treatment
- I wanna do a fuel injection cleaner on my next fill up

Even $150 to change your belt is a lot. You can buy the tool and learn to do it yourself for less. And then you'd have the tool. I'd say anyone with a reduction pulley should learn how to change their belt as pulley'd cars tend to have belts "go out" more often that stock.

We sell the tool to make it alot easier

As for your P/S fan problem. IF it blew the fuse that can make the radiator/ac fan not work, so that may be why your ac didn't seem to work. We also have an upgrade kit if your has that problem that seperates the P/S fan and radiator to seperate fuses.

Change your coolant. PS fluid (if you do the pump anyways). You may want to check your brakes and brake fluid. It couldn't hurt to put new diff/trans oil in as well. I would also check out the belt just to see that things are tip top.
I the 100k maint + a ps pump/fan replace it wasn't too bad.
And your dealership sounds like a bunch of putz' I'd try to find an independent German specialist...Not like you have a warranty to worry about at this point
