AC Question: Adding Freon to my Cooper.

I recently purchased a used 03 Cooper S (and super love it ), but the AC stopped blowing cold air recently. I have mechanic buddy who says it's a quick fix, just buy some freon and put it in (he said he'd even do it for me). Unfortunately my car didn't come with a manual, do coopers use a specific kind of freon brand, is there a brand someone can recommend for me? And where do I put it in?

I appreciate all help!

I just bought a can of the r134a freon at autozone and that worked pretty well. To add freon, there are two caps to the left side of that bump where your driverside headlight is. The nozzle on the can will only fit onto the smaller of the two caps

THanks a lot GOLDENDOMER! I picked up a can this morning, and I'll probably put it in later today.

How did adding Freon go? If all is well, disregard what follows.

Since you have a 2003 there is a good chance that the low speed on your radiator fan is not working. On your car that would require a fan replacement. If the fan is out and has been out for a while, then you may also have more significant problems but let's not go there yet.

Hopefully adding a bit of Freon cured your problem.
