new power steering pump fan not working!

Today, i replaced the ps pump fan and then i drove 3 miles and back. when i put the car on ramps, i can hear the hi speed coolant fan running for about 8 on and off cycles, but the power steering fan had not spun once.

i then i checked fuse F41, but it was good. also the horn was not working either and the fuse was good as well. then there were strange sounds under the car, i can hear faint beepings. what kind of warning could that be? damn it i wasted more than 200 bucks hoping to be able to drive the car again. (had not been driven for 15 days)

btw, car is a 2002 mini cooper s

The PS fan runs when AC is running...about 30 seconds or so after it is turned on, or "when Needed"....what the when needed is..???
Sometimes, I go weeks with out hearing mine turn on...unless the AC is on...
From your description, it sounds like the radiator fan is acting odd....the low speed should have been running....having the HI speed cycling on and off....sounds like an issue...

Since it is a early mini, check to see if the plug for the PS fan (there are two on un-modded cars)...one on the bracket, by the pump, and a second one, that connects to the radiator fan/harness, unless the car was modded to separate the fans power scource....the harness is updated to put a fuse in the cabin.
Why all the stress about the PS fan....
Check it to see if it can move freely, look at the wiring, and don't worry.
Since these cars have so many electronics, I would check all the fuses......

If you suspect you got a bad fan, any 12 volt PS could be used to test the fan if you remove it to ensure it works....

The beeping sound...that is a new one.....

Hey Zippy, i was the same guy who posted about the hi and low speed coolant fan a week ago. the A\C is shot and low speed is gone. but i heard that people seen or heard the ps fan spin when the hi speed coolant fan is turned on!

i think it could be a short? but if there's a short shouldn't the radio, lights, engine, or anything electronic not work?
is the fan's wire connected to the entire wire harness or could it be just one wire connected to the main? that would be easy to replace if its a plug and play. also i dont know where to look for the second connection on the radiator fan.

the reason why im worried is because the power steering pump went out once at 58000 miles, and that the radiator's relay gone bad 1000 miles ago coolant came out from under the car. so i was convinced that the ps fan was the cause. and now when i replaced it, its not doing anything.

btw, i drove another 20 miles in 79 degrees weather and still no sign of the fan running.

Did you turn the ac on to test it?
I wonder if it is on a timer, like with the a/c lowspeed (some say 20, some 30 seconds)....
Not sure what intersection is going on with the fan, or the horn issue....did you double check the other fuses...folks have had other fuses result in a non running fan, etc...I'm guessing the controller or relays must be run by the other fuses.

The ps fan tends to be pretty quiet...sometimes you can feel it or hear it....longterm I think it is important, but for the health of the ps pump motor...don't think you can blame the rad-leak on it, but maybe the ps pump failure....

It should be plug and play.....
I'm assuming it has other parts (engine computer or BCM) that actually controls it, but it seems pretty rare that just the fan does not fix it, since it is the most common failure point.

stupid question, how do you know if the light green block fuses on the engine compartment are blown? do you take them out to see if the connectors are burnt? because they all look fine. also it was a pain to take them out as they were stuck (i had to wiggle them out).
