Please Help! I keep blowing fuse w/iphone?

I'm new at this, so forgive any inadvertent mistakes! I have '03 Cooper and the cig lighter fuse holds the iphone charger, but blows every time I plug in the Belkin FM/Hands Free unit. Very frustrating and MINI dealer won't suggest a thing...wants me to buy their unit which isn't available for '03 anyway! Any suggestions would be appreciated-Thanks, Vld

yup plugged into my pickup ('91) and works like a charm. I had purchased a cheaper version of the FM Belkin and it did same thing, thought because I'd cheaped out, I'd try the real thing...same result, just changed the bloody fuse again! I see nothing on the unit saying it's amperage-?

It may be the design of the plug hits both the hot and ground in the plug. You have to look closely at them both and see if there might be a way to modify (maybe electric tape) to make it have smaller contacts.

I am just guessing.

Thanks for the tip, there is barely enough room for the Belkin unit to fit above the cig lighter...of course the MINI is what I want it in, not the pick up-may just take it back and unless Belkin comes up with a solution. Thanks again, vld
