door lock + automatic unlock (2 pulls on handle)

ok so i have a 2005 MCS

recently, the 2 handle pull to autounlock and open the door has not been working on my passenger side door

if i use the key remote to unlock, it goes in one try...if i use the interior lock / unlock switch it will go in one try...but if we pull the handle once, it only slightly moves the lock, i have to pull it like 10 times for it to *maybe* unlock...and then i can pull again to open the door

is this a common issue...is there a fix for this?... like i said it only happens with the autounlocking feature...not the buttons or keys

Since it works with the interior toggle and the remote fob, the electric actuator is fine, as well as the connection between the actuator and the door lock mechanism. It sounds as it something has gotten loose or is binding in the linkage between the interior door handle and the lock mechanism on your passenger door.

The best thing I could suggest would be to remove the interior door panel and observe the linkage as you pull the interior door handle.

Have you ever had the passenger door panel off for anything?

It's not *that* bad. This page has the gist of it. Getting the padded portion of the arm bar off is actually trickier than getting the rest of the door off the car.
