I'm no expert, but my airbag light came on too (although no accident). I've done several searches on the forum and the consensus seem to be that only the dealer can reset the light since it's a safety issue. I think if the light is on, the airbags are disabled.

Battery cable?

I had the same problem.

If you have a B200 code scanner it will tell you the problem.

Did you replace the battery cable? That was my problem. Not an obvious thing like airbags and seatbelt tensioners.

I got around replacing the cable with a 99 cent resistor, but do what you want to.

B200 will reset and diagnose. I paid $70 for a used one but they can be had for $100 or so new online.

My dealer wanted $180 for a reset. Of course they would have told me that I needed a new battery cable for $393, plus install - figure $1100 out the door.

You decide.

Airbag lights need to be reset. Some software sold to consumers will reset it, though many won't. Dealer can reset it.

coopspeed, thanks for the info. I think I will pick one of these up as well.

Here's a couple of links with a price of ~$57:

If its a new SRS module it needs to be programmed to the I assure you 100%
even if the codes are not present the airbag light will be on until manually turned off with a scan tool

Peake makes tools that will reset a airbag light....they are round just like their BMW/MINI ODB2 tools. It is important to remember....it will only reset the light...if the faults are all fixed, you are good to go.

http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/NME4020/InvDetail.cfm

The tool can be found for much less...sometimes the airbag only tool version pops up used on the market too!!

In about 2 minutes I found it for 129.00...so priced do vary...but beware...some versions will do the airbag, some do not.

thx

I just went ahead and ordered one, I'm 99% sure it will work though, The software tha I use to use for my VW/Audi did the same thing and it worked flawlessly. For 57.00 you can't go wrong, especially if other problems occur down the road. You could also rent it out too to other friends
