HID Headlamp Assy Replacement

Ok, so Im having a problem with my RH headlight where it works sometimes and doesnt work others. I have replaced the ballast and the lamp. I have checked the voltage on connector pins to see if it matches the LH. If I plug in the LH assy to the RH connector, it works. SO, my question is this: Can I pull out the HID headlamp assemblies and install halogen headlights. A pair of new halogen headlights are $200 shipped. A new HID headlight costs an arm and a leg (like $600). Can you just plug the halogen unit into the stock connector where there was an HID headlamp?

And please dont try to convince me to stick with HID for resale value. I checked and the HID option only brings $120 extra to the value of the car, so its a no-brainer economic decision on this one... and Im not worried about the headlamp washers either as actuators started leaking on me 2 years ago and I unhooked the pump.

From what i understand you can swap to halogens, but you may need to have the computer "re-learned" to such.... I know 02-04 HID cars can go to face-lift halogens and HIDs w/ no problems.

For what it is worth, it sounds like the igniter inside the headlight itself. I will have an extra set of HID headlights before long, but the "glass" (clear plastic) is in bad shape. And replacing the igniter on your current one would entail pulling the headlight assembly apart, which i do not suggest on pre-face lift headlights.

Thanks. I had actually put a different igniter in too, I cut and spliced the wires so I didnt have to disassemble the whole thing.
