Rear has to twist and push in. What are you using to compress the piston, jus the vice?

i use needle nose pliers.. push and twist.. eventually the thread will catch and the piston will move in.. takes some force, is a pain until it moves and then you will know the trick! I sometimes hold the caliper against the pad carrier to get some good leverage.

I wouldnt use a c-clamp or anything that doesnt push or rotate at the same time..

Thank you for posting the info on the brake caliper tool. I am getting ready to replace my brake pads.

Huh? The rotating pivot on mine spun and let the caliper go right back in, no need to press and rotate at the same time.

Yes you do.....the piston is req'd to be turned as it is pushed back into the caliper. Never force it.

I think what Some Guy was saying was that the C-clamp rotated with the piston, so that the piston rotated when you tightened the C-clamp. At least that's what happend when I used a C-clamp, before I got the HarborFrieght tool (which I much prefer to the C-clamp).

The C Clamp can work but sometimes when the calipers are older and the E brake cables can be sticky it tough to get enough twisting force from the C Clamp. That rear piston tool makes everything so easy and fast

This. Sorry if I was unclear, the piston did rotate on the way back in.
