Dealer Service Techs are freakin brilliant.

At my last service (#2), Reps told me they need to remove my Moss Skid plate to service a recall on the PS fan. They offered to do it them selves + labor. I said no and took it home. This was about 2 weeks past. Finally, weather is cooperating enough for me to get under the car.
So I'm down there checking stuff out when I notice something has been leaking all over the bottom of my car. I finally manage to get the plate off and inspect the leaks. Its pure, clean motor oil. Immediately, I pop the hood and find my $90/hr service tech had managed to spill oil all down the side of my motor and valve cover.
When I take it back for the recall, I'm going to show the manager what he pays his techs to do.

How about replacing the oil filter housing, and putting in a new filter, but NOT CHANGING THE OIL! I couldn't believe that one. Or doing my front strut retrofit work, aligning the car, and not centering the steering wheel! And replacing the sunroof under warranty, and leaving two of the old torx bolts in the car. One wedged next to the tach, the other in the cupholder. How about replacing the window regulator and not wiping your greasy fingerprints off the window. I could go on. This is why I prefer to work on my cars myself. I almost hate warranty's.

Also why I bought my MINI in Ohio, 2 hours further away. Luckily, my 36000 mile warranty will expire by next oil change.

Dreyer Reinbold BMW/MINI, Indianapolis.

Totally agree. Figured its warrantied, might as well use it....
I need to take a picture, its so funny. Like the tech just dumped a quart on the cover hoping some would fill... Its that good.

Anyone want to comment on the service dept at Roadshow MINI in Memphis? I need some (hopefully) minor warranty work and want to get a heads up on the service advisor and dept. Are they on the level, or do I need to be axtra careful in dealing with them? Anyone with experience of their service techs, please comment.
TIA.
TIA.
