When to Replace Rear Struts?

2003 MC with just under 107000 miles. Just had a bunch of the front suspension components recently replaced - strut mounts, struts, control arm bushings, torn CV boot.

Thinking the rear struts probably need to be replaced at this mileage. What are everyone's thoughts?

Yes, with the amount of work you've done on the front, plus new struts, you should change out the rear ones as well. You probably won't notice much now, but it's best to change all 4 at one time. It's kind of like tires. If you change out the front tires, but leave the rear ones balding, then it can adversely affect the way the car handles.

Makes a lot of sense. I'll have to put some new ones in soon.

You're definitely right about the change being subtle - while changing the bad control arm bushings was a huge change, the front struts was a pretty subtle one. In fact, it kind of left me wondering whether it was necessary...but I'd rather go with new struts than have to replace broken strut mounts again due to aging struts not doing their job.

Since I wasn't originally planning to replace them, had to run and pick up OEM ones from the dealer while everything was off. The guy helping me with the job recommended replacing them once we had them off.

A quick Google search and looks like those might be the Sachs.

Thinking about getting Monroe Sensa-Tracs from RockAuto for the rears, mainly cause the price is right.
