PCV line on 2011's

My friend just took deliver of her '11 MCS and I was poking around under the hood and noticed there was no longer a rear PCV line going into the intake manifold, from the valve cover. This was one of the main sources of oil vapor blow by, and thus carbon build up on the intake values in the pre-LCI R56's.

Anyone have anymore info on this? Did they finally fix one of the biggest design flaws of the R56 motor? Or is it just re-routed somewhere that I didn't see? (I didn't take that hard of a look)

If true, I would say we're all due for a recall...

So, if I understand this correctly ... this is basically the same result as installing the BSH Boost Tap and blocking it off (removes the PCV line from the intake manifold to the valve cover) in a pre-2011 MCS.

Correct?

I can't say that I remember seing it in the same location as the N14 cars. I'll look tomorrow and let you know.I can tell you that these new motors are a PITA to get connectors and connections apart, nothing comes apart easy and the little clips that hold everything together liek to go flying. I've also already had 4 cars with map thermostat faults and none of them has had over 2,000 miles. New learning curve I guess.

If this is the case, wouldn't that pretty much cause your intercooler to become a big catch can?

Intercooler as an OCC

I really hope not. My second Mini, an "S" gets off the ship on Dec 1.

How about putting a petcock or an OCC down there? .

BSH just lost a lot of potential boost port buyers.

Smog-1...so did you pick up your car yet? Also, did you find out anything regarding the PCV and whether or not you should install an OCC?

I did pick up the car yesterday. I have not had time to go through it to see what might be different. This week I hope to sort out some things, like which wheels will fit the Brembo BBK and why it was not shipped with All Season tires (Bridgestone RE050A RFT). The tires seem much nicer than the Goodyear Excellence RFT that were on our other Cooper. Check back in a week or two and I might have answers and maybe a photo!

Yup , and after 10k miles or so it will also be in the inlet of the turbine housing. OCC would prevent this if maintained.
