Battery Dead?

I was surprised yesterday when the MINI would not start yesterday afternoon. I had to get it jump started, I think that the body shop ran the battery down when I had the body of the car repaired from the deer hit.

My question: Is the battery covered under the warranty? If not how difficult is it to replace the battery myself? If the dealer does the replacement (out of warranty) what cost can I expect?

MINI: 2008 Clubman, 29,000 miles

battery replacement

I just changed my OEM battery in my 05 Cooper S with another OEM. $139 for battery. It has a 2 year prorated warranty, which I assume is the same warranty for the original. This is an easy swap for novice mechanics! Or just have a friend help you.

I'm not sure if the battery is the same for 2nd gen MINIs, but mine had a battery status window on top which indicated battery condition by color.

others have posted here that they did successfully get MINI to replace the battery under warranty.

If the dealer is too far away and decent auto-part staire will typically install a purchased battery for free. They will usually also check your existing battery condition for free. Nothing unique about the MINI battery, you just need to ensure you buy the right size and again a decent auto-part store can determine this quickly.

Yet another post has indicated the the OEM battery is alos a BMW part nd this was one case where you can get the part at a BMW dealer if you really must....
