New Owner w/Cold Start Squeal/Squeak
Hello NAM,
Finally picked up a MCS after being a lurker for a year. I got myself an '06 MCS with dealer installed Works pkg. Car has 35K miles on it and is in great condition. I'm loving the car.
There is a problem that I've discovered that I'm hoping some one could help me diagnose. So the problem is when on cold startup, I hear this rhythmic squeal/squeak that lasts about 30 seconds. The noise comes from the rear passenger wheel well. Based on some research I've done on NAM it sounds like it may be related to the leak detection pump.
When I took it to the dealer, they diagnosed it as a leaking passenger engine mount. However after replacing it, the noise is still there. Not very happy with them and don't have any faith in them fixing the problem.
I've recorded the noise and uploaded it to you YouTube. Here's the URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbsWc9lzQGUAny thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Hope you were able to point out to the dealer that what the repair they did wasn't the cure and able to get it straighten out.

The above part was what came up from Rock Auto...when I typed in "leak detection pump"...aka fuel pressure regulator. It's a $66 part plus shipping, but check around for other places for pricing, assumes this is the problem and maybe there are better ones out there.
Youtube below on a ldp...

Video details the operation and testing of the LDP. The LDP or leak detection pump is a very odd component, but widely used on all Dodge vehicles and some Europeans, such as BMW. This device pumps air into the EVAP system and detects possible peaks using a series of sensors and the ECM itself.
Looking at the video, if the noise does come from the ldp, maybe the up and down motion of certain part(s) is what is causing the squeaking noise?
Keep us posted on your findings if you go back to the dealer or indie shop.

I'm guessing they probably need to keep the car overnight or let it cool way down so that the same sound comes back for them to hear it themselves.
At least you know you got good motor mounts now, but wasn't the problem.

Here's the price for a ldp (#02) from realoem.com and looks different from the Rock Auto part and a bit more $$$.

Keep us posted on what you find out from the dealer....for us approaching the high 70's to near 80's mileage mark, I'm incline to think some of us are going to have to replace it sooner or later.

Finally! I have had the exact same chirping problem on my 05 MCS.

Sounds like the LDP is it. If anyone has a DIY solution, let us know!
