I have a 2004 Mini Cooper S. I unexpectedly burned out my clutch and had it replaced at a shop that is not very close to where I live. When I got the car back, the thermometer has been reading -40 F ever since.

I would like to fix this myself if possible, instead of the inconvenience of going back to the transmission shop that did the repair. Has anyone else come across this and do you know how to fix it?

Sounds like the shop forgot to plug the sensor back in. This is common accident causing the -40 deg reading.

 

Is it something that I can plug back in myself?

 

Yes, you just need to take the front bumper off then it will be attached to the back side. If it's missing you need to talk to whoever did your clutch.
