Moisture in intake manifold 2010 S 4300 miles

Hello all and thanks in advance for info or answers to this and my previous questions.
I just got home from dealership, which is 3 1/2 hours away one way. Ugh. If temp was around 10 degrees or so last couple of weeks I would get a big yellow engine symbol, half of which was filled in - in yellow. A funky idle, would rev up and down from 500 to 1700 rpms or so. Also, I could not roll faster than 25 mph max in any gear.
Checked the book - it stated the light meant engine under excessive load and damage to catalytic converted may result. Or something along that line. I know I need to go on a diet, but I did not think my gut would cause an excess load on the engine.
So after getting power back - called Mini roadside asst. I then took to Mini myself as they stated on phone a yellow warning light does not necessarily warrant a tow.
The dealership replaced my intake manifold with what they called an updated manifold...changed the oil...and according to the bill - performed water clearing procedure. SO where was the water? oh, and fixed a rattle. OH how I hate things that rattle or squeak.
Time for the dumb question for he who knows little about what he drives. How major of work was this? it took 3 hours or so. Is the intake manifold the air intake that leads to the air filter, then to the engine?...or something else? was there water in my engine...? I have noticed some blue (ish) grey exhaust color on 1st startup in the am since it has gotten cold. Do all Mini's look this way when they start up? reminds me of my 1984 Bonneville.

This happened to my 09 MCS a few weeks after I had it. Below 20 degrees F I noticed it and it happend 2x before the car stored a fault code.

The dealer replaced the intake manifold to a newer design. The older one allows in moisture which freezes at cold temps. Since the manifold swap, no issues with this problem again.

It is a cold air intake system
The great thing about cold air intake systems is that they are really easy to install and for the ease, their impact is awesome

This would be the intake manifold. There was an issue with the old design that could lead to condensation issues.

For most techs its not really a hard job but with the other items done 3 hours is not bad. Also remember that shops bill off of what the books say it will take not actual time taken.
