Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
When we 1st saw Molly she had 0 (zero), and had just come off the Covered Wagon, packaging material intact. 1 week later at Delivery she had 23, Fuel Stop and Clear Bra Install (not done @ Dealer)!!
Interesting that your car had zero on the odometer. Prior to your post, I would have thought that zero miles would have been impossible since I understand all Mini's have a short test drive at the factory... Maybe that's not true in all cases.

That's possible I suppose, since with the Seats were still wrapped in Plastic and Cardboard cut-outs were everywhere, and I know she had to get parked in the spot she was in when we 1st saw her...I don't know how many miles were on her, I didn't much care after seeing her it was so hard to leave her there and have to wait a whole week just to be able to driver her!!
I'm not sure what the dealer's diagnostic equipment can read, but the equipment used at the assembly plant shows what the actual mileage is in the ecu. It is usually a bit higher than what is shown in the cluster due to a reset. Every vehicle is run on a dyno a certain distance at various speeds.
The number of engine starts might also suprise you (sometimes between 40-50 by the time it gets to the dealer.)
Whenever I do a pre delivery inspection on a new car I put 5-7 miles on the car to ensure that I can get through all the gears and make sure no wind noises are present. 90% of them go fine but I've found a few things that would have returned fairly quickly had it not been for the lengthy test drive.
I have no idea if it is still true, but when I was a BMW dealer, the factory set the vehicle at minus mileage. You could drive the vehicle several miles to reach the zero point. This was to accomodate for test mileage at the factory, moving on and off the shipping facilities, and PDI mileage.
