Hi:
4/03 build MCS JCW, 3500mi, went to track day this weekend. Before I left, I checked fluids. Coolant tank empty (2nd coolant tank) but PS tank was EMPTY. Stopped at dealer, tech topped both coolant and PS up.

Drove 140mi to track, next AM checked Fluids. Coolant OK, but PS down to 2/3 of tank. I figured tech didn't fill totally. ran fine, no leaks, NADA. Tracked car with son all w/e, ran fine, handled fine. Cooked brakes.

Monday brought in for ATE Super Blue and new pads, V36, and check PS/coolant.
PS tank empty, not a drop ANYWHERE. rack, lines, boots all DRY. Fluid gone.
Coolant...leakdown + compression test done, no problems.

Tech line has no clue. Dealer tech and service manager are great, competent, and have no idea where my fluids are going. Possessed by Leyland gremlins?

WHY DONT YOU TRY CHECKING THE POWER STEERING RACK.IF THE BELLOWS LOOK LIKE BALOONS OR THEY ARE PUSHED OVER THE TIE RODS FURTHER THEY THEY SHOULD BE,THAN THE RACK IS LEAKING INTERNALLY

 

Well, I guess I'll reply to my own thread...Techs figured out the rack is full of fluid. It holds a LOT of fluid. Inner seals must have went. Hmmm.
Bellows look like new. absolutely no sign of problems anywhere.
