Whining Noise coming from valve cover!!
Hey guys I have a 07 mini cooper s and it started making a whining sound when sitting in idle. When starting the car no noise is heard but when warmed up the whining begins. When I pull out the dipstick it relieves pressure I believe and the whinging stops! Do I have to replace the whole valve cover because of the pcv or is something else causing the vacuum that will cause that noise?

Ah ha, Same problem I had, its your valve cover, there is a built in mechanisme that goes bad. Mine only made noise once the car reacher 220 degrees. I accidentaly ended up with 2 when I replaed mine. I am about to drive an hour to go and return it. but would rather save the drive and sell it. They are 295 at the dealer I can sell for 250.
does the noice come from the pass side?
Oh shoot, I guess I am driving to the dealer. But that is your problem, and they are on national backorder. or they were.

Nope, there is a vaccum something in the cover itself, and mine broke, so have a few others on here. it will get worst, the iddle will get very erratic and you will get a P1497 code, some have had the car die and not be able to start. Mine was drivable for months but it bothered the heck out of me. Nobody could figure it out, even the dealer. So I just bought a valve cover and installed it it took 30 minutes and fixed the issue. Plus the valve cover has a new design to prevent this in the future, a high pressure release valve that the origional design doesnt have.
