Help with Alternator problem.

Ok,
I have been working on this problem for about a week now. I will give you some background. I had a low oil pressure issue and lost the motor back in NOV. I have started replacing the motor, got it in. I replaced the clutch while it was open along with the flywheel. Now, I have a problem where the alternator will not charge the battery. I am getting 13.5 to 14 volts off of the alternator, but when I attach the cable to the alternator that comes from the harness, I get nothing. I also get an open loop when I do a connectivity test with the multimeter.

Now, does anyone now how this electrical connection routes, or do I need a new harness? Where is the other end of the alternator cable?

Thanks,
Bryan

More on this. I took a 4 gauge wire and ran it from the altenator directly to the positive post in the engine bay. I started the car and it is reading 14.25 Volts at the battery.

Do the Wiring harnesses go bad and is it common?

Thanks,
Bryan

Found my problem, Had the starter hooked up wrong. The lead that bolts to the back of the Alternator goes through the top of the wiring harness and connects to the positive side of the starter. I had it connected to the negative side. Duh...

Thanks for all of the help..
