2011 washer nozzle weeping...

not sure if this help.
i had leaking washer fluid from the rear wiper. it would leak when parked in the sun/hot temperature. fixed it with the advice of some members here. there's a past post that suggest draining the dealer fluid, all of it, out. then put some distilled water in and drain that out again. refilled it with 50/50 mixture of distilled water and washer fluid. that solved my problem. no need to waste my time at dealer. good luck

I took it to the dealer and waste of time best describes the outcome - they told me it was 'normal operation'. give me a break. when isnt the dealership worthless?

i will have to give this a shot - do you recall how big the reservoir is? ill get a couple gallons of distilled water to flush out the system. thanks for the tip.

in hindsight, i should have bought a siphon and suck the washer fluid out. but it took me a good half hour just using the wiper to spray everything out. i had to be careful not to run the wiper mechanism too hot.
once i got the original oem fluid out, i just use less than half gallon to flush it out. after that no more weeping nozzle in the heat. good luck.

update:
I tried flushing the system out - that did not resolve the issue, nozzles are still weeping all over the bonnet. you were right @cccplus about taking a while to get the fluid out by spraying - i think my neighbors thought i was crazy
ive taken it to another dealer and they have re-replaced the nozzles which I know wont resolve the issue. They have also opened a ticket with MINI regarding the issue and I am going to give them an update on the status next week so I guess the great weeping washer nozzle adventure continues...

Hello All, please post the technical bulletin details. I will be going to the dealer tomorrow and could use the info for persuasion. I have already been in once and they just replaced the nossel. I don't think they put any valves in... So I have to go back before I run out of warranty time.

Is there a part number for the check valves, I am going to go after my service dept to get this done and I want to be specific about what I want.

Just came from Nashville Mini.
Not only have they heard of this issue, and have actually installed the two check valves that mitigate / eliminate weeping, they actually had and showed me the technical bulletin describing the issue and the fix.
If any other dealers give you the run-around, or are not aware of this, have them call their counterparts (pardon the pun) in Nashville.
It is also a warranty issue, so they will fix it for me at no cost. They did not have any of the valves in stock, so they had to order them. Will let you know how it went after installation, though I don't suspect any further issues.
(Kudos and shout-out to Nashville Mini)

Might as well just get it replaced. Just print out this thread and take it into your dealer. Was in last week about it, and I didn't have to explain anything. The head mechanic walked by and said "Check valves" when he overheard me talking to the SA. I looked over and he said "It comes from driving the car too fast" with a smile and wink. Then said "Yeah, there's a TSB on it, no problem, just write him up". Going in this Friday to have the valves installed (they were out of the valves and had to order more). Seems to be a well known problem these days...

Need help again and this time with windshield washer. When I attempted to spray washer on my windshield, the right side didn't spray. When I opened the hood, I saw the hose came off from the nozzle and when I tried to put the hose in, it broke :(. I called Mini of Concord and it is around $67.00. It is just a small plastic and I'm not surprised when they quote me the price. Question - Where can I buy the nozzle (right side) online?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

How my problem was solved
Hi Guys!
I have a 2012 R58 Coupe S, and I noticed the weeping washers shortly after delivery. Awhile back, an issue with some coupes having a heat shield under the hood, and others without popped up over on the coupe thread.
My thought was the high engine compartment temp might have something to do with the leaking nozzles. Sure enough after installation of the heat shield, I have had no further leaking.
My guess is the heat acts like a burner on the stove, and pushes the fluid out of the tube/hose. Now that my hood remains fairly cool, the fluid doesn't heat and expand - no dribbling!
Don't know if non coupe/roadsters have the heat shielding, but it definitely did the trick - FYI

I've got the MINI (almost) full hood liner with the small aluminum patch at the rear. It was the only one my dealer could track down, and although there are apparently 3 versions, this one seems fine. Maybe the extra metal at the rear of the hood is helping keep the nozzles from weeping??
All in all, I don't think it's so much the metal bit, as the general blanket effect of the insulation.
