Raido draining battery, any fix ideas?

I'll Jump right into it, this is a very intermittent problom, one day its fine the next my battery is dead, here we go:

2003 MCS HK sound, no cd changer, sat radio or nav.

I've only been in the car once when it has happened, this also happened to be the time I was trying to troubleshoot it, with the key out and all the raido will turn on and just either:

A: stay on untill the battery dies
B: turn on and off until the battery dies

I've had my HK amp die once and I R2 (removed and replaced) it and had no issues for a few years and one day I can to the above problom, I can pull a 15 amp fuse linked to the radio and it will be good all day all night and so on.

At this point I'm not sure if its the head unit sending a signal to the amp or the the amp is just doing its own thing, I havent had time to dig in the the wiring diagam and shootwires. anyone else had a problem like this?

THAnks

There is a problem with the head unit. You can turn on the radio w/o the key and it will run for about 20 mins and then shut off on a properly working radio. But it looks like yours has a problem with it thinking it got turned on and not being able to turn off.

There seems to be alot of issues with H/K units.
How old is your battery?
Mini's are very prone to all sorts of electrical issues if the battery is not 100%.
Don't go by the little green dot.
If battery is over 3 yrs old would think about getting another.

If there has been an IPOD connector to 3.5mm cable adapter added, or an IPOD device is left on the end of the IPOD cable before the radio is
physically turned off via its control **** while the car is still on, then this is the problem! The radio does not enter the "sleep" state properly
and keeps alive / stays on even when the car is off (although the radio does not appear on). There is a known defect with the Alpine radios that
keeps draining battery power!
As a temp fix, the radio must be turned off with the car still on AND THEN either the IPOD device disconnected from the IPOD pigtail, or the 3.5
adapter disconnected from the radio's IPOD pigtail before the car is turned off & key taken out of the ignition. An updated Alpine CD53 player is
supposed to be available from the manufacture by now. Affects R50, 52 & 53……Technical Service Bulletin reference # M6520005 issued January 14, 2005
addresses this. It is a known problem. See: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...tallation.html
I had noticed that every time the car was dead, for some strange reason when I got inside, only the radio kept its settings while everything else had
lost its settings / memory.
