Okay ... so I love this forum (and my Mini's) I started watching it a few years back under a different name that I can't remember so I had to start a new name. I ordered my first mini in 2004 but never ended up getting it because of my ex-wife (notice how I said ex) anyways here it is 2011 and I have not only bought myself a R56 I bought my current and only and last wife one also. Hers had an issue within two days later. Thanks to you guys I had enough evidence to let the dealer (a Nissan Dealership) know what this issue was and it needed to be fixed. After an idiot of a shop (which I still need to make a comment on) we went back to the dealership and my wife (Sam) took care of LOL. They delivered the car to Annapolis, MD and got the issue taken care of with four days of (in my opinion) the worst car ever . Here it is 2 weeks later I am having an issue with mine. When the car is in sport mode which I love I don't have the issue but once its in normal it starts. When I leave my drive way or anywhere that needs a stop and first gear it studiers. It takes a lot more gas then I am use to. I guess after this long explanation I am asking is this anyway normal or is there an issue? Also my wife's MINI when she starts it the little mini in the middle of the console shows orange and when I start mine it is red ... whats up with that?

The stutter when starting in first go without sport mode sounds normal. Sounds like you are not used to the throttle mapping without sport mode and you are lugging it try to get it going. Either give it more gas (as you figured out) or keep it in sport mode (as you also figured out).

The icons that are coming up when you start (I think) are part of the OBC's attempt to tell you that service is due. Either figure out how to access the service menu (search the site or 'net) and see if you can figure it out yourself or take it to a MINI dealer and let them tell you.

 

Cool. So it sounds like my Mini is normal. Thats good to know! As far as the icon I just haven't really had a chance to research just didn't know if anyone on here at quick insight. Thanks!

 

It would be helpful to know what model year your MINIs are as there are differences, especially between the '07-'10 and the '11s.

 

Having had three myself (wives), this made me chuckle.

 

I have an electric blue R56(S) and my wife has a brown R55.

 

Divorces get to expensive .. if this one doesn't work out she is getting everything but my mini and I'm buying a RV lol.
