Strut mount rubber going bad again!?!

I had the mushrooming shown here on my passenger side strut. I replaced both strut mounts and added the Madness Strut Tower Reinforcements.

The rubber on the new strut mount is flexing over time. When I first installed the new parts I noticed a difference in the front tire clearance and noticed that the dust cap on the top of the strut bearing was recessed quite a bit. Now that dust cap has come up substantially to where it is above the hole in the Madness plate. The passenger side is higher than the driver side.

All this was confirmed by an alignment today.

My Driver side camber is -.3 (ok)
Pass side camber is -1.1 (out of specs.)

Why does the rubber on the top of the strut mount deform and allow this?

Was there ever a recall on this part?

I feel like I might have a bad one. The new one has <1000 miles on it.

Thanks.

The parts I used were not Mini oem - they were Boge. I was told by the salesman at ECS Tuning that they were the same.

I now have new Mini strut guides on the way. They did give me a credit for the "defective" parts - so I'm only out my time.

Stay away from the Boge strut guides.

Go with Genuine Mini: 31306778833

Coop.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm wondering - were the OEM mounts different from the Boge ones when you finally received and installed them?
