Lost half gallon of coolant in 5 blocks?

What's more likely, a tube jiggled free or the thermostat housing cracked? Would the crack cause this much of a lost?

I know it's leaking in the front area. I'm not with the car, my sis was driving it.

What type of car?
R53:
Look at water pump
thermostat housing
hoses
R50:
thermostat housing

The thermostst housings do not crack, the gasket usually dies and then you get seepage.

Maybe sis blew a hose. Bottom hose would leak fast.

It was a 03 MCS.

Turns out the oem clamp that connects the coolant hoses had rusted off! Check your clamps and replace rusty ones =o
