2011 MCS Vibration

Well, Red’s in the shop and I’m driving a loaner.

I’d posted earlier about the vibration problems at 55-58 mph. Well, today Red went back to the dealer. They test drove her and admitted I had a problem. They tried the road balancing thing with no improvement. So now they’re replacing all four wheels and tyres to see if that helps. If not they think it could be suspension/drivetrain which means they might be keeping her for a while. So they stuck me in a Loaner 2010 MCS auto and sent me home

My MINI until today was the only Mini I’d ever driven or even ridden in. So I had nothing to compare it to. Driving the Loaner pointed out to me just how bad mine was vibrating, I just did’nt know . If I’d driven another one I would have had it back to the shop a lot earlier. So we’ll see how this turns out. Hendrick’s has been great about it so far.

Interesting to drive another Mini.

It was nice to notice that a year old Mini was as tight and rattle free as my 2011
It made me appreciate the HK sound system. The base radio is really well, base.

Had to edit. My first response was a bit harsh about the auto Minis. Still would'nt be my first choice but still a fun car.

Please let us know what was the problem. Sounds like they did the right things first.
Glad you got to compare, I love the 6 sped but I like the Auto in the sport manual mode.

OK, good news and bad news. They replaced wheels and tyres with set from another Cooper and vibration went away. Now they're going through the very time consuming process of tracking problem to one particular tyre or wheel. So I will not get car back til next week. But I have to say Hendricks charlotte has been super+ about this and have gone the extra mile to get this fixed. One super dealer.

that's good news. i would hate to hear that there's something wrong with the suspension when your mcs is new 2011.

OK, final result was two out of the four Continental tyres were bad. Which does not say a lot about their quality. So I get two new tyres and a nonE vibrating car. Kudos to Hendrick Mini for providing such great service.

I've never been really happy with conti's.I've switched to Michelin on all the German cars I've owned and never had a problem.
