been starting hard on me lately, 2-3 seconds of cranking before it really starts, but runs perfect after. at 58K miles now. am i just looking at a tune up (plugs and wires), or do you think it could be something else?
What kind of gas are you using? Some lower grades have been known to cause startup problems as they don't have the additives to keep the injectors clean.
so after new plugs, wires, coil pack, a can of sea foam, and 2 tanks of shell premium, I'm still getting a hard start about once a day. what should i check next?
If the hard starting seems to be related to the battery turning over the engine more slowly, you might check the battery. If the battery is spinning the engine over at normal speed, it's probably not the battery.
The was a thread recently about the fuel pressure regulator. It is on the rail and doesn't look expensive or hard to replace. The symptoms were the same and it turned out a bad regulator was not holding the pressure while sitting causing the pressure to take longer to come back to the right zone. The replaced everything in that thread and IIRC it went on for months. I would try that next for better or worse. I got a look at mine an it was butt ugly rusty so it is on my mind for the future.
