LHD and RHD Headlights ... different?

Help help help!!!
Can anyone tell me if the actual LHD (eg USA) and RHD (eg UK) Headlight units are different on First Generation MINIs or are they infact the same, just adjusted differently to avoid blinding oncoming traffic.
Reason? I have a RHD (NZ) 04 S that xenon self leveller has just died. Im wondering if my options to take the opportunity to upgrade to a projector / halo / angel headlights need to be limited by not buying from USA (LHD) ie

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AQ:MOTORS:1123

and

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AQ:MOTORS:1123

In short, should i be asking if these are ok for both LHD and RHD MINI's?

Im getting lots of conflicting opinion, so any help would be greatly appreciated

Try realOEM.com...

and just look up part numbers after specifying RHD and LHD choices as the site permits.

Expect you will find them different. Headlight patterns throw higher on the shoulder side of the road, which means higher on right side of the beam pattern on a LHD car, and the opposite for RHD.

Thanks for that, yes it appears they are LHD / RHD units are all different, interestingly even European and US LHD units are different, presumeably cause of different local regs?

Could be...

if it shows those as different, it could be the beam cut off. From my Audi experience, Euro lights were known as having very pronounced cut offs to the upper edge of the beam pattern, while true US ones are more diffuse. On some 80's and 90's Audi's you could source the front OEM headlight glass (before it became plastic...) from a few suppliers to change the beam throw pattern for either preference or RHD/LHD conversions of the basic lighting.
