Sun Roof Decal Problems

Hi Everyone! I have a 2010 Clubman that originally had a black jack decal on the sun roof, actually it's had three. They will not stay on and I finally just had them take it off and refund my money.
The black jack comes in several pieces and not one big sheet, don't know if that's a factor. They have no idea why it won't stay on and corporate just tells me to talk to the local dealer.
Any thoughts on this? Any tricks to get it to stay?
Thanks!!

I had no problems installing the black jack on the sunroof of my 2010 clubman. The key to any install is the prep work. Cleaning the glass to remove anything before the application is the key. You should use a cleaner that will remove any traces of wax or sealants. Prepsol, 3m adhisive remover, mineral spirits. I dont think a regular glass cleaner will work. Are you doing the install yourself?

Black jack decal

The dealer has done it every time and they say proper prep work was done. Then they told me to hand wash it and to never go through a car wash. Sorry @57 that's not an option. It's very frustrating cause I wanted it so bad!

The graphics come in as two sheets. maybe the dealer would give you a new set and you could take it to a place that does graphics. Anyone who can do graphics should be able to this in a couple of hours. Are you washing the car after the install? Maybe they have a bad batch of graphics. The vinyl is from 3m.

Roof graphics

Two sheets? They put it on in like 8 different pieces! Every time I went through a car wash pieces would go flying off in every direction!

Custom Made

I went with my friends advice and he custom made my Jack Rackham flag out of high quality 3M Bus graffic material that is used on city buses that get powerwashed all the time also when I brought factory stripes to him he did not like the quality of the material and he made for me nice 10 inch rally stripes out of 3M also http://images2.snapfish.com/23232323...3B734%3Bnu0mrj for some reason I can't get my pics on here but will say I only hand wash but my friend Iggy has been doing this for over 30 years
He also applys 3 coats of what he calls frog juice which is for UV protection

How long did you wait before going through the car wash? I only have stripes on my roof, but haven't had any issues with them. When they were installed I was told not to run it through a car wash for a couple weeks (it was winter though, summer shouldn't be as long) because it takes a while to cure. I try to wash mine by hand as often as possible, but sometimes I do take it to the sort of car wash that runs it through on a track with a couple brushes for the tops and sides, and jets of water for the wheels, then guys hand dry it. I never go through the type that is "touchless" because the water pressure is just too high to risk with the vinyl... plus I have heard plenty of horror stories that don't involve vinyl.

I think they said 2 weeks was plenty long enough. Hadn't thought about the "touchless" washes.

Decal installer

Hey, need advise. Need to find a good decal installer in north Carolina area. There is no one that I could do it here in Roanoke, VA. Winston-Salem area would be good for me. Thanks.

When I had my St. Andrews put on they told me not to wash the car for at least a week. I took it a little further and did not wash it for two weeks.

I watched the installer do his thing and he prepped the heck out of the roof then when he was done he very carefully applied wax to the areas that was still paint.

I dont remember the exact time they said to wait before washing my car either but I think they said something like 24-48 hours before the glue starts to cure(and that depended on where you lived) and to avoid high pressure washes.
