Ok, Im back.. And not under great circumstances..

Our 2010 Chilli Red S is not feeling Well.... Here are the issues..

1) Engine stalls when you first start the car, have to push the start button twice before it will take.. (not weather dependant, just random)

2) Occasionally there will be a crackling noise from under the hood on startup, this will occasionally cause the Radio to shut off completely.. (seems electrical) this crackling is occasionally followed by a whooosh noise..

3) Noisy rattle when air conditioning kicks on. (car was in for this issue and they claimed to repair a recall related to a bushing on the A/C lines but it still does it)

4) Rear hatch only opens with the use of the fob.. ( they calim this is common and are ordering parts..

5) Common problem- The engine is stupid noisy- like a diesel car.. But I hear this is normal?

The bad part is that they cannot get us in to look at the car for another week or more!! If the car hard starts again I am going to call Mini Roadside assistance...

Can anyone shed some light on this?

 

Earliest they could get me in is the 20th of this month.... I am considering buying a 3rd car that is daily driveable....

 

Bought a miata as a spare car.. At least now when the mini goes in we have a mode of transportation.. ha~!

 

I just had the rear hatch not open yesterday and has been rattling for weeks now. Mine is diesly loud too. And if it's hot forget about opening the roof. Oh and the hood scoop is warped all to hell. Goes in for fixes on Thursday.

 

Dropped it off this morning. Also noticed that the coolant was low on Saturday. Haven't driven it since. Really like the service guys at the dealer, i know they will get the car sorted out.

 

Here is the list of the repairs they are performing:

A/C Compressor replacement
Timing Chain replacement
Reprogram on the ECU
New electronics for the rear hatch

SHould have the car back today.

 

Picked it up a few hours ago. List was as follows:

HEX BOLT

TIMING CHAIN
CHAIN TENSIONER
SIM 11 02 07

Timing chain was 72mm (max spec at 68mm) and the car had jumped time causeing the hard start issues. Tech noted that the tensioner bolt had not been torqued to spec and was backed out. Also programmed the car SIM to bring the car I Level to date.

Rear Hatch fixed by-

5113903 Replace

Replaced microswitch due to permanent Failure

HVAC noise fixed by

Replaced malfunctioning A/C compressor



The car is a whole new car.. I wouldn't doubt that the car came from the factory malfunctioning because it drives and sounds correct now..

Couldn't be happier. Scares my wife a little that we have had so many little things go wrong, but I feel confident that it will all be addressed during the warranty period.
