Whining noise in the front

So i noticed the other day that my mini has a whining noise at around 30 mph when im on the throttle( not coasting) its not at an rpm where the turbo would start to spool either. So is this normal for a mcs? I figured if its not then it should be something in the drivetrain. Any input? And if anyone has had this problem what fixed it? Im at just under 59,000 miles on my 07

Where is the noise coming from? Pinpoint a location...under hood, under dash?

I just got mine fixed for a whining air compressor. It would whine under throttle and sounded like it was behind the passenger side dash.

Sit in your car
turn on AC
set fan at lowest speed
Press trottle until RPM is up around 2500-3000
Is it whining???
While still under throttle, turn AC off
Did it stop whining?
If so, it's the compressor.
There is a TSB to fix this with a counterweight under warranty.

Hope this helps!

As far as I can tell its under The hood. Deff not an a.c compressor. But only happened when I'm in gear with my foot on the gas and the noise starts at 30.

Interesting. THanks for posting this. I often wondered why the car was so loud with the AC on.

We used to get a whining noise from the back seat area. It sounded something like, "Are we there yet?"

I've noticed this recently. It seems to be present with the AC on or off. Only really noticeable at relatively slow speeds/low RPMs. I'll keep an eye on it.

Is it RPM dependant? I hear a whining constantly throughout the rev range. Sounds like an M3 GTR racecar, but subtle.
