Quick o2 Help
I have a 2003 MCS with 90K miles and I am having the o2 sensor's replaced today because of the p2096 code. I have read little things on here saying that there was a 10yr/100K warranty on MCS's o2 sensor from MINI USA but I cannot find what years it pertains to. My extended warranty ran out in Jan of 10 so I am just trying to see if I have to pay what they want to replace them or if my o2 sensor's are covered.

Last I heard, it was only for 05-06 models. I was having the same code soon after adding a CAI, but not knowing what to do I just changed the O2's. Unfortunately new O2 sensors did not take care of the code.
For me, turned out the 17% SC pulley was leaning out the mix too much on some WOT runs because after adding a set of JCW 380cc injectors the code never came back.

Well I had both o2 sensors replaced and the car was running well with no light, but heading back to Nashville today my service engine soon light came back on. So they will be getting a very aggressive call from me since they didn't fix the problem. I am planning on changing my oil this week so I will look and see if there is an exhaust leak or something myself. Anyone else had a similar problem?

If the leak is close to the offending O2 sensor, (some welds are right there ) it will trip a lean code, but from what I have seen leaks like this seem to be more prevelent with the 05/06 models not the 03's. They can perform a smoke down test on the system to find these leaks. Takes only a few minutes.
