Transmission fluid

Transmission fluid
Hello all!!!
I have a 2005 Cooper. She now has 108,000 miles on her.
I need to do a transmission fluid change. The dealer wants $159.00.
Does anyone know what it requires to do a transmission change?
What kind of fluid do I need to use?
I saw a post about special tools... what is needed?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Here's a fluid guide straight from MINI documentation about manual transmission oils (open pdf attachment, below).
Can substitute Redline MTL for Texaco MTF-94
Can substitute Redline D6 for BMW-MTF-LT-3 - these are the ones that apply to your 2005 Cooper with Getrag 5-speed.
The R50 auto CVT takes ESSO CVT EZL 799, and
can substutite Redline Non-Slip CVT fluid.
The R53 and R56 auto transmission takes MINI ATF JWS-3309, and
can substitute Redline D4.
Don't know about suitable substitutes for the R56 BMW-MTF-LT-4 oil,
but that wouldn't apply to your case anyway.
There are some guides to replacing fluid on this forum.
Jack it up front and back so that the car is fairly level (I drove up rhino ramps
on the front and raised the back with a jack and jack stand).
The drain and the fill plugs take regular sockets or wrenches on some models,
and allen keys on others. Make sure the fill plug comes off okay before removing
the drain plug -if it doesn't, you'll be sorry if you drain it but can't fill it.
A hand pump for fluids can usually be found at auto parts stores for less than $10
which is easier than a long tube and funnel, and plan on 2 liters/quarts to drain and
refill a manualtransmission, 3 if you want to flush it better with the first liter.
I think the auto transmissions take about 5 liters and not sure about the fill and drain plug details.

Here's a clone of the official TIS instructions for the R50 with CVT fluid change:
It's a little more involved than the manual box.
