R53 Throwout Bearing-Alternatives to plastic junk?
My '04 MCS is going to need it's 3rd clutch soon. I won't go with Clutchmasters again and with this replacement I'd love to use a better quality throwout bearing. The stock plastic part has always managed remind me of what junk it is. Anyone know of a better quality metal T/O bearing that can be substituted? Some mini parts have BMW parts that are functional replacements. Anyone know if there are any good metal BMW T/O bearings, either OEM or aftermarket that would work?

The aftermarket throw out bearings only work with the clutches they come with. If you try to use them with a different clutch they prob won't work or you won't have the right clutch feel and travel.

I'm experiencing an odd sound that I'm trying to diagnose and think perhaps it may be my throw out bearing...
...the sound is difficult to describe and it is most noticeably loud on decel coasting from 4000RPM+, the noise goes away if I depress the clutch pedal.
Has anyone here ever experienced such symptoms?
I installed an Exedy bmk1001fw unit 25,000 miles ago and do not look forward to diving back into that terrain just for a damn bearing, so I certainly don't want to confidently misdiagnose it! LOL Are there any other sources that may be the culprit? Unfortunately for me, it does seem drivetrain related since the noise stop when pedal pressed?
I wish there was a heavy duty performance option for our T/O bearing.
Like if the all metal OS Giken bearing would fit that'd be wonderful, but as Way says above it probably wouldn't work.
It is a beautiful looking thing as compared to the cheapo plastic junk tho.
