Clutch Click on Master Cylinder

My 2009 Clubman S clicks twice during one normal travel of the clutch. The first click is when I'm pressing the clutch in, I don't hear this one, but can feel it click. The second one is when the clutch is almost fully dis-engaged. Makes a click. I've read here that it could be the clutch pedal clicking on the main line to the master cylinder. Anyway I can check this or fix it myself?

Thanks in advance!

It is probably the bearing in the clutch pedal assembly. When the bearing is bad, the pedal hits the black cylinder on the left. I have mine repaired under warranty.

Thank you! That ties in some other responses I've read so far. Hopefully I can get it warrantied.

Follow up, I crawled under there to get the best look possible.....not easy may I add! But yes, I can see the bearing moving around and clicking when the pedal gets pushed in an poped out.

Hey Smalls, could you explain with more detail on how you went about this?

I too, feel the same clicks when I'm moving the clutch in and out. Can't hear it, but definitely feel it.

I can crawl under the car no problem, but I don't think I can figure out exactly what I'm looking for. Can you explain where the bearing is? Is it exposed or covered? Will I be taking anything apart to get to the bearing? Pics?

Thanks!

Right where the master cylinder meets the clutch pedal arm. You can see it click left to right when you move the clutch in and out.

BTW I had the chance to check out a few other Mini clutches last night, and they all had the same click. Maybe we're just being over sensitive. In any case, I have an appt with my dealer on Wednesday to check it out.

The bearing restricts the left-to-right/right-to-left movement of the pedal. When it wears out, the pedal can rub up against the cylinder on on the floor just to the left of the pedal. I discovered this by applying a more left-to-right pressure on the pedal as I pushed down and felt NO click. Then I applied right-to-left pressure as I pushed down and the click was there. The cylinder only sits a few milimeters away from the pedal when you depress the pedal all the way to the floor.

The bearing is part # 10 on this diagram:

The Mini/BMW P/N may change from year to year.

Thanks guys. Sounds like something I should not be worried about, but I'm gonna take a look anyway. The more I know about the car the better

Well I just got back from service. They fixed the first click (when I push down the clutch) but I can still hear a pronounced click when releasing it. It happens at the very last moment before I take my foot off. I think this is different issue. Look at this diagram,

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...28&hg=21&fg=10

This noise I am hearing comes from the #4 area. Its right where the input cylinder meets the pedal. I can see it moving left/right and thats what I hear click.

From another thread....

"It's either the pivot on the Clutch Master hitting in its bracket (fixed by cutting a plastic washer into a C shape and installing it on the pivot rod) or the clutch pedal itself has a portion of plastic that hits on part of the plumbing for the slave cylinder."

It makes sense that my issue it the pivot point for the clutch master.
