You must use RTV in those corners as per the manual.

Might be 84 INCH pounds. NOT foot pounds.

Yeah definitely not that much torque for valve cover bolts. They're 10nm or 7.3 ft/lbs. And they are 10mm heads. I do use RTV as well.

Yes it was inch lbs. I work on rovers so rarely comes up. Size of bolts, so that is about half a pinke with a small wrench.
i have a universal seal BMW good for different materials metal, plastic, polyurethane base sealing compound.
not sure if that qualifies as RTV?

RTV= room temperature vulcanization. Its doesnt refer to a specific product.

As long as what you have can handle 250 F youre good to go.

Inch lbs that was about half a finger tight.
assuming the red tab gets pulled once installed.
& of course the RTV tube of which you need very little the cap lost itself under engine bay somewhere.

Where?

The n14 prince engine has issued so either replace and change or you’ll have a lot of headaches! It’s stupid to pay $1000 for minor fixes for a $7000 car.
where did you find those?

Does anyone have an image or video (or even a description) of exactly how to pries the PVC membrane cap off the N12 valve cover? In order to replace it with one of these caps from @ECSTuning https://www.ecstuning.com/b-vaico-pa...127646554~vai/

I think that is erroneously listed for the R56 as this same part is listed for earlier R50-R53 at Way Motor Works:

When I changed my valve cover there was one of these that I had to take off the old cover. What is it for?

Nope. That info from RockAuto is incorrect. Its all integrated into valve cover.
