I know some of this has been discussed before, but I didn't see any more recent model issues. I just bought a 2011 Mini Cooper S and it has about 450 miles on it. I love the car, but have noticed that when it sits for longer than a few hours, the first 45 seconds after starting, the engine runs very rough and the tailpipe vibrates almost like a motorcycle. This morning, the car released a bunch of tailpipe white smoke. Not sure if this is normal or not, but there is also some heavy black carbon buildup on the inside of the tailpipe.

Any ideas to what is going on?

Check the oil, they do forget to fill it all the way. I found mine was 1/4 quart low when I got mine.

 

Mine is doing the exact same thing minus the white smoke. Checked the oil, seems to be fine. About 1300 miles on it now and it still does it.

hmm, new car with warranty. if you're close to dealer, then have them take a look.

definitely check your oil and coolant level.
